I recently had a Deep Tissue Thai massage with Maliwan, and it was truly exceptional. This is my third visit so thought I should write a review. From the moment the session began, she created a calming, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Her technique is outstanding- precise and incredibly intuitive. She knew exactly where to apply pressure and how to release tension without ever causing discomfort. What stood out most was her professionalism combined with genuine warmth. Every stretch and movement felt purposeful, and I walked out feeling lighter, more flexible, and completely refreshed. It was easily one of the best massages I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for an authentic, deeply restorative Thai massage, I highly recommend booking with Maliwan. She is truly gifted at what she does.
Thai Massage in Glasgow West End
Authentic Thai healing for Byres Road, Hillhead, Kelvingrove and Great Western Road
Glasgow Thai Massage welcomes clients from the city's beloved West End to our professional studio on Cambridge Street. Just a short journey from Byres Road, Hillhead, and the Kelvingrove area, we bring centuries-old Thai healing traditions to one of Glasgow's most vibrant and culturally rich communities.
The West End is home to Glasgow's academic community, creative professionals, and a thriving food and arts scene. From the university corridors of Gilmorehill to the independent boutiques and restaurants of Byres Road, West End life is stimulating but physically demanding. Our authentic Thai massage treatments provide the ideal antidote to long hours in lecture halls, cafés, and creative studios.
Getting to our Cambridge Street studio from the West End is straightforward. The Hillhead subway station puts you two stops from Buchanan Street, and from there we're a short walk. Alternatively, bus routes along Great Western Road and Sauchiehall Street connect the West End directly to our city centre location. Many West End clients find the journey part of the experience — a natural transition from the West End's busy streets to a place of genuine calm.
Our West End clients are among our most loyal regulars. Students from Glasgow University and the Royal Conservatoire appreciate our flexible booking and competitive pricing. Professionals from the media and creative industries in the area find fortnightly sessions essential for managing the demands of modern working life. Families living in the handsome tenements of Hyndland and Partickhill use us for therapeutic maintenance and stress relief.
The West End's culture of wellness and independent businesses makes it a natural fit for authentic Thai massage. Our clients from Kelvingrove, Dowanhill, and along Great Western Road have discovered that Glasgow Thai Massage offers something the West End's many yoga studios and gyms cannot — the deeply therapeutic, full-body reset of traditional Thai bodywork, delivered by therapists trained in the authentic techniques of Northern Thailand.

Thai massage is an ancient healing art from Thailand with over 2,500 years of history. Unlike Swedish massage, which involves a therapist applying oil to your skin while you lie passively, Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a floor mat. Your therapist uses their hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet to apply rhythmic pressure along energy lines (Sen) while guiding you through assisted yoga-like stretches. The result is a uniquely active yet deeply relaxing treatment that improves flexibility, releases muscle tension, boosts circulation, and restores energy balance — something no oil massage achieves.
For traditional Thai massage, please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows free movement. Tracksuit bottoms, yoga pants, leggings, or loose shorts with a t-shirt are ideal. Avoid jeans or any restrictive clothing as the treatment involves stretching. If you're coming from university or from working in a West End café or creative studio, feel free to bring a change of clothes — we have changing facilities available. For oil treatments such as aromatherapy or Thai oil massage, you'll be professionally draped with towels throughout the session.
We offer competitive, transparent pricing for all our Thai massage treatments — excellent value compared to West End wellness studios. Prices vary by treatment type and duration, with sessions available from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Our treatments include Traditional Thai Massage, Thai Oil Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Thai Foot Reflexology, Back Neck and Shoulder Massage, Sports Massage, and Pregnancy Massage. Please contact us or visit our website for current prices. We offer student discounts for Glasgow University and Royal Conservatoire students.
Thai massage is excellent for managing student stress. The combination of pressure work and passive stretching addresses the physical tension that builds from hours in lecture halls and libraries — tight shoulders, a stiff neck, lower back pain from desk sitting, and tension headaches. Beyond the physical, Thai massage triggers the body's parasympathetic response, reducing cortisol and promoting the kind of deep rest that improves memory consolidation, concentration, and sleep quality. Many Glasgow University and Strathclyde students use regular Thai massage sessions as part of their exam preparation and ongoing study wellness routine.
Absolutely. Our treatments are tailored to the physical and mental demands of West End professionals. For academic writers and researchers, our Back, Neck and Shoulder treatment targets the tension patterns typical of sustained desk and computer work. For musicians and performers from the Royal Conservatoire, our Traditional Thai Massage addresses repetitive strain patterns and performance tension. For creative professionals in studios and agencies, our Deep Tissue Massage works through the chronic knots that build over months of deadline-driven work. All treatments include consultation to focus on your specific concerns.
We offer a comprehensive range of professional massage treatments: Traditional Thai Massage — authentic Thai healing with stretching and acupressure on a floor mat; Thai Oil Massage — Thai techniques combined with nourishing oils; Deep Tissue Massage — intensive treatment targeting chronic muscle tension; Aromatherapy Massage — deeply relaxing massage with therapeutic essential oils; Thai Foot Reflexology — rejuvenating pressure point therapy for feet and lower legs; Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage — focused 30-minute treatment; Sports Massage — for athletes and fitness enthusiasts; Pregnancy Massage — safe, nurturing prenatal massage from the second trimester.
For general wellbeing and stress management, we recommend once every 3–4 weeks. If you're managing chronic tension from extended study or desk work, fortnightly sessions will produce faster, more lasting results. Many West End clients start with weekly sessions to address longstanding issues, then transition to monthly maintenance once balance is restored. Your therapist will recommend a personalised schedule after your first session. Consistency is key — regular Thai massage delivers cumulative benefits that a one-off session cannot replicate.
Yes, gift vouchers are available and are particularly popular among West End clients for birthdays, graduation gifts, and as thank-you presents for friends and colleagues. Vouchers are available for specific treatments or monetary values, giving recipients full flexibility. They make a thoughtful, wellness-focused alternative to the usual West End restaurant or theatre gift. Vouchers can be sent digitally or collected from our studio. Contact us to purchase — give someone the gift of authentic Thai healing.

I had a Thai massage here recently and the experience was a mix of positives and challenges. The massage room was spacious, ambient, and very comfortable, especially the massage table. The masseuse was friendly, attentive, and clearly skilled. The massage itself was mostly relaxing, but at times the pressure was stronger than I could comfortably handle. I was reassured it was “good pain” due to the tightness in my shoulders and back, but I did end up with bruises on my arms and back and felt very sore for a couple of days, which affected my sleep. On the positive side, a few days later I noticed that I felt lighter and less tense, which shows the massage did release a lot of tightness. I would recommend this place for those who like deep, strong pressure massages, but if you prefer something gentler, I suggest making this clear to the masseuse at the start.
A beautiful experience — highly recommended I had the pleasure of booking a Thai massage in Glasgow today and it was a truly beautiful experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The team was very friendly, incredibly professional, and delivered excellent work throughout my visit. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and I could tell that great care was taken in every detail. It’s clear that the ladies working here are passionate about what they do, and I’m so grateful for the hard work they put in. This is definitely a place I’d love to return to — and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you again!
Fantastic place. Staff are very knowledgeable, attentive and skilled. I had some tightness in my back and hip which they noticed right away and went a long way to easing. The staff were also careful around my knee and elbow which had some sporting injuries. The rooms are serene with light music and subdued lighting. The hot oil treatment is very soothing. I look forward to returning. Many thanks
